Bruton High School CTE Superstar

Meet one of YCSD’s future ready graduates! This summer, Bruton High rising senior Ayanna Moore participated in the FBLA National Convention in Chicago followed by a New York City trip for the Mercy College Business Honors Summer Leadership Academy. The program was for high-achieving juniors/rising seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. While there she experienced college life firsthand, learning about business careers from those who have worked at Fortune 500 companies across the globe. She made such an impression that she’s already been offered a spot in the college’s business honors program.

YCSD Statement Following Texas Tragedy

Yesterday afternoon, a heartbreaking tragedy took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Our deepest sympathies go out to every member of that community. When violence affects a school, we experience a range of emotions such as shock, fear, anger, and grief. It is also natural to wonder about the measures in place at your own child’s or loved one’s school, a place where children should feel completely safe.


YCSD Named Best Community for Music Education

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation has named York County School Division as a "Best Community for Music Education" for its outstanding commitment to music education. YCSD is among the 738 school divisions from across the nation to achieve the coveted status this year and one of only 19 in Virginia.


GHS Student Awarded National Merit Scholarship

Grafton High School student Yunseo Chung has just been named a recipient of the National Merit $2,500 Scholarship. Yunseo was selected from a pool of more than 15,000 finalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.


Sodexo Future Chefs Culinary Competition

Students from each elementary school in the division took over the kitchen at York High School for the Sodexo Future Chefs Culinary Competition. The national initiative was launched to get students thinking about making healthy food choices while also encouraging them to get active and creative in the kitchen.

Taylor Goodson, a third grade teacher at Coventry Elementary, is now a member of an elite group of educators nationwide. Wednesday afternoon, she was named a Milken Educator during what she, her fellow teachers, and students thought was just a Teacher Appreciation Week assembly.


THS Rocket League State Champions

The THS Varsity Rocket League team just won their third Esports state championship! Since its founding in 2020, the team has an undefeated regular season match record with over 40 victories against schools across Virginia. Congratulations to team members Preston Short, Caden Jacobsen, Josh Diaz, Tyler Shaffer, and Tai Nishikawa!
