VDOE K-12 Learning Acceleration Grants

Virginia families can now apply for funds from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) to help support the costs of tutoring and other similar services. K-12 Learning Acceleration grants of $1,500 are available to families of any public, private, parochial or home-school student in grades K-12 residing in Virginia, while qualifying families are eligible for $3,000.

Funds can be used for tutoring in English, math, science and history, as well as world languages required to meet diploma requirements. Grants may also be used for support services such as speech language pathology and reading interventions. Available services include in-person, online and hybrid tutoring provided one-on-one and in small group or large-group settings. Families of students with disabilities may also use up to $750 of their awards for the purchase of assistive technologies specified in their child's Individualized Education Plan or 504 Plan. The York County School Division will host two informational webinars on Microsoft Teams to provide more information about the microgrants and the application process. Information and links to each webinar are provided below. Parents do not need to pre-register for the webinars.

A total of $30 million in grant money is available through the program, which was established by Gov. Glenn Youngkin to help address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on learning.
