I want to begin this communication by thanking our teachers, administrators and staff for all their work to start the 2021-22 school year with more than 12,500 students returning to full-time in-person instruction for the first time since March 2020. As I have visited schools these first two days, I have seen our students taking part in meaningful and engaging classroom experiences and all students I have spoken with are so happy to be back in school with their teachers and peers.

2021-22 SOL Results Released

Posted on: Thursday, August 26, 2021

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has released Standards of Learning (SOL) test results from the 2020-21 school year. The tests, which are required by federal law, were the first administered to students in two years. As state accreditation was waived for the 2021-22 school year, these results will not be used to establish school accreditation status. Instead, SOL data is intended to assist school divisions in identifying areas of unfinished learning and developing strategic steps to meet the varying needs of students.

All devices, including hotspots, provided to YCSD students, will be collected in the next few weeks. Each school will establish specific processes and dates for collecting student devices and will share that information directly with families.
