State Assessment Results

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) published annual state assessment results, accreditation ratings, chronic absenteeism data, On-Time Graduation rates, and other data from the 2022-23 school year on September 7. Overall, students in the York County School Division (YCSD) surpassed state averages in all five Standards of Learning (SOL) content areas by between 12 and 17 percentage points.

The Instruction Department shared additional information regarding student outcomes during the September School Board Work Session. You can watch the presentation on the division’s YouTube channel and read the full news release on the division website.

1:1 Device Protection Plans

The York County School Division is offering families the choice to buy an Accidental Damage Protection Plan (ADPP) for school-issued devices beginning this school year. Please note this option is only for devices provided by the school, not personal devices bought by families.

The $50 annual coverage plan applies to accidental damage, not intentional damage, vandalism, negligence, or loss of the device or its accessories. Any damage to a device not covered by the ADPP will be the responsibility of the families and identified fees will be assessed. Families can sign-up for the plan via Rycor through October 20. After October 20, devices will need to be inspected prior to purchasing the plan.

You can find details about the ADPP, what’s covered, and potential fees on the 1:1 Technology Program page of the division website.

Program of Studies Feedback Invited

The York County School Division provides a variety of secondary (grades 6-12) course offerings to meet our priority of preparing future ready graduates. Course offerings are detailed in the annual Program of Studies. As the division begins developing the 2024-25 YCSD Program of Studies, families and students are invited to share the types of classes grade 6-12 students and their families would like included in the 2024-25 YCSD Program of Studies.

We encourage families to discuss their student’s post-secondary plans and interests and provide feedback on academic courses and programs using the survey links below. Your response will assist the division with proposing new courses for next school year. If you have any questions or would like to provide further feedback, please speak with your school counselor.
