Student Handbook and Conduct Code

Each year, the division updates the YCSD Student Handbook and Conduct Code. The handbook serves as a helpful resource for navigating the 2021-22 school year and includes information about school system practices, policies and services that support and enrich learning. Topics include student attendance, school safety procedures, transportation guidelines, student behavior expectations, and student and parent rights/responsibilities.

We ask all students and families to review the Handbook at the start of the school year. If you need a print version of the Handbook, please contact the school’s main office.

Forms must be completed by Thursday, September 2, unless otherwise noted. If you are unable to complete the forms online, please contact your child’s school for assistance.

  • Military Recruiter Information Release Form (students in grades 11 & 12 only)
  • Family Life Education Removal Request (due November 19)

1:1 Technology Program

Schools will be providing those students who plan to use a YCSD-issued device in the coming weeks. Students are only able to receive a YCSD device for the 2021-22 school year after the Student/Parent Technology Usage Form has been completed and any device previously issued has been returned. Each school will provide information regarding when and how device distribution will occur.

Students not planning to use a YCSD-issued device may need their personal device (mobile phones not recommended) during the school day. Additional information about the 1:1 program, including a Handbook that addresses internet safety and digital citizenship guidelines, device information and care, and FAQs is available on the division website.

Bus Stop/Route Information

2021-22 bus route information will be available online, beginning Monday, August 23. If you completed the Transportation Request Form or indicated transportation needs during new student registration, and you are not able to locate your child’s route information Monday, please contact the Transportation department by phone at 757-898-0344.

A friendly reminder to be patient with bus transportation the first few weeks of school. As drivers learn their routes and student riders, reinforce safety procedures, and navigate local traffic increases, delays in the morning and afternoon can be expected.

The division is also still experiencing a shortage of drivers, which may add to delays. The School Board recently approved a $1,500 signing bonus for new drivers, so please help spread the word about our open bus driver positions and Apply Online today!
