Some of the activities for the students and families included class performances, cupcake decorating, bookmark making, and story time with teachers. Hearts for ParisPosted on: Friday, December 04, 2015The junior class of Tabb High School wanted to express their sympathy and offer words of encouragement to the citizens of Paris over the terrorists attacks of November 13. With the help of their class co-sponsors, Jill Candusso and Bonnie Sousa, along with assistance from French teacher Chris Elliott the idea evolved to write messages on blue, white and red hearts. Messages were collected by junior class officers and mailed to the mayor of Paris. |
BHS Students Awarded Grand PrizePosted on: Friday, December 04, 2015Three Bruton High School students have been named the grand prize winners in the 2015 “No 2 Distracted Driving” video contest. For the third year in a row, local Hampton Roads high school students joined with Hall Automotive, Cox Communications, Geico and Drive Smart Virginia in their commitment towards safe driving in the community by creating and submitting videos highlighting the dangers of distracted driving. Three of the four videos selected as finalists were submitted by students at Bruton High School. The videos were posted online then, over a three week period in November, visitors to No2DD.com viewed the videos and voted for their favorites. |

FISH is an all-volunteer not-for-profit agency providing help to residents of the greater Williamsburg area. FISH depends entirely upon a caring community for food, clothing, volunteers and financial donations, in order to serve our neighbors in need. Waller Mill students know what it means to serve the community. |

BMES Named National Title I Distinguished SchoolPosted on: Wednesday, November 25, 2015The Virginia Department of Education has named Bethel Manor Elementary School (BMES) a National Title I Distinguished School. Only 100 schools throughout the country (two per state) are recognized with this honor each year. A project of the National Title I Association, the National Title I Distinguished Schools Program publicly recognizes qualifying Title I schools for the outstanding academic achievements of their students. It highlights the efforts of schools across the country making significant improvements for their students. |
SES Kindergartners Honor VeteransPosted on: Friday, November 20, 2015Kindergarten students from Seaford Elementary School (SES) recently went to Colonial Harbor to honor the veterans who live there. Prior to the visit, students learned about the significance of Veterans Day and wrote cards to veterans. They also created red, white and blue placemats in art class and learned two patriotic songs to perform. |
