Title: COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR

Primary Function:
To provide assessment, counseling, and consultative services for the purpose of supporting positive academic and social outcomes for students.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in teaching or related field; completion of a supervised practicum or field experience in an educational agency through an approved program or a minimum of one year of full-time successful experience as a school social worker; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and to demonstrate strong organizational and management skills.

Ability to demonstrate professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with all students, parents, school personnel, and other members of the community.

Possesses the ability to quickly learn and apply new technology and to prepare and disseminate written reports within required timelines.

Possesses the ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day if assigned to an itinerant position.

Possesses sufficient strength, ability, dexterity, and mobility to carry out all performance responsibilities.

Possesses the ability to develop and implement a comprehensive family systems intervention model for addressing student issues.

Ability and willingness to make home visits on a flexible schedule when necessary.

Possesses working knowledge of special education law, practices and disabling conditions.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Serves as the McKinney-Vento liaison; assists McKinney-Vento (homeless) identified students with transportation needs and educational services to include free school meals, referrals for health, mental health, dental, and other appropriate services; inform parents/guardians of available services and opportunities.
- Conducts individual and group crisis intervention/short-term counseling.
- Assists teachers with school related issued and interventions; and consults with teachers on developing and implementing classroom interventions.
- Consults with teachers, parents, students, and outside agency personnel concerning student needs.
- Presents training and workshops for students, parents, school personnel, and community members; and serves as a school-based service coordinator for student referrals.
- Contributes to total school and division programs; and engages in professional growth activities.
- Maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Provides counseling to students, parents, and families as needed to improve student attendance or student achievement.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Reports to:
Director of School Administration
Terms of Employment:
200 days a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of licensed personnel.
