Title:   ACCOUNTING ANALYST

Position Type: Exempt

Primary Function:

Performs accounting, budget and financial reporting work in the area of capital improvements and other school division funds; assists with the planning, development and execution of the annual budget and Capital Improvements Program (CIP).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field; and considerable experience in governmental accounting; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which would provide the acceptable knowledge, abilities, and skills, as evidenced in the following performance responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting and budget principles and practices, auditing, and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of the application of data automation to accounting, budget, and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Ability to analyze, examine, and verify financial documents and practices.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, county officials, and the public.
  • Ability to quickly learn procedures used to report information and maintain records.
  • Ability to work under general supervision.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual capital outlay budget and operating budget.
  • Assists in the publication of all budget documents.
  • Maintains detailed spreadsheets for all capital projects and reconciles cash and debt service accounts monthly.
  • Coordinates implementation of online forms, online credit card and point of sale credit card payments.
  • Responsible for initiating and terminating employee access to credit card accounts and bank accounts
  • Oversees Student Activity Funds (SFA) at the SBO.  Coordinates annual training and audit activity.
  • Assists in coordinating Medicaid billing and revenue tracking
  • Prepares year-end reports and schedules for auditors.
  • Compiles, corrects, and submits monthly federal reimbursement claims to the State Department.
  • Reconciles and balances various financial reports
  • Assists in preparing and monitoring budgets.
  • Assists in the departments of payables, purchasing, receivables and program accounting.
  • Assists in the preparation of the ASR (Annual School Report) by analyzing expenditures and revenues and compiling data in the format prescribed by the Department of Education.
  • Compile and process the yearly supply, clinic and postage allocations for the schools.
  • Assist in monitoring end of the year expenditures for fund 2100, 2101 and 2200.
  • Assist in filing and tracking insurance claims
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Budget & Financial Supervisor.

Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
