Title: TRADES HELPER - HVACR APPRENTICE - ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL

Primary Function:
Perform semiskilled mechanical and electrical work in the maintenance and service of Division HVACR systems and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Fundamental computer literacy.

Two years apprenticeship training in an accredited program preferred or equal training and experience in the HVACR field.

Fundamental knowledge and understanding of the standard practices tools, and terminology of the skilled HVACR trade.

Basic knowledge and understanding of building codes and compliance, tool, machine and shop safety, fire codes and ICC standards as re-quired by the trade.

Ability to use all standard HVACR installation and diagnostic test equipment.

Personal ability to successfully interact with Division personnel and the general public.

Ability to work effectively in a crew and maintain good working relations with co-workers and all others in the workplace.

Possess a work ethic that values dependability, punctuality, productivity, and sound judgment.

Physical ability to work in inclement weather, extreme temperature and conditions.

Physical strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, working in tiring and uncomfortable positions, and from ladders, scaffolds, staging,etc.

Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of HVACR tasks, including assisting in the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVACR equipment, controls, and systems.

Assist in troubleshooting difficult diagnostic problems.

Work in accordance with drawings, schematics, sketches, plans and blue-prints.

Perform all other related duties as assigned by the HVACR Supervisor.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Can climb a ladder and lift up to 60 pounds from the ground and 35 pounds above the head.
- Can stand for extended periods of time
- Can understand and follow written and verbal instruction
- Exhibits the manual dexterity and mental alertness needed to operate tool and/or other equipment
In the event of severe weather conditions or emergency situations, the School Division may suspend normal operations and/or cancel classes. If this occurs, all employees deemed essential must remain at or report to their work as soon as conditions reasonably permit. The designation of essential depends on an employee’s duties as well as the circumstances for suspension of normal operations.

HVACR Supervisor
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months per annum. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
