Impact Aid Forms

Impact Aid survey forms are now available for every student through Rycor, the division’s online form and payment management system. It is critically important that parents log in to their Rycor accounts and complete these forms for each student in their family by October 17.

Federal Impact Aid helps make up for lost tax revenue to local districts due to non-taxable federal property in their boundaries. The amount of Impact Aid we receive is determined by the actual number of our federally-connected students. Federally-connected students are children of active duty uniformed services personnel, children who live on federal property or in subsidized federal housing, and children whose parents are employed on eligible federal properties.

As more than 40% of YCSD students are considered federally connected, the division typically receives more than $8.7 million dollars in Impact Aid funding each year. The funds become a part of the school system’s general operating budget and are critical to maintaining high standards for educational excellence.

School Meals

School meals remain free to all students for the 2021-22 school year. Menus and prices for additional entrees or a la carte items are posted on the division and school websites each month. Families that qualify for the Free & Reduced Meal Program are encouraged to complete a meal application, which may qualify the student for additional benefits.

We want families to know that product shortages and supply chain issues, similar to those you may have noticed at local stores, are impacting School Food Service programs across the country. YCSD is currently feeling the effects regarding chicken products, paper supplies and some breakfast items. If shortages cause a change to the advertised daily menu, announcements will be made at school. We appreciate your support as we navigate through these nationwide challenges.

Virtual VA Enrollment Update

The Virginia Department of Education has opened limited registration for the Virtual Virginia (Virtual VA) spring semester. Virtual VA is the division’s partner for full-time virtual instruction during the 2021-22 school year. Families interested in enrolling a student in Virtual VA should follow the division's application process provided on the division website by November 30.

Community Announcements

The York County School Division offers local businesses and organizations the opportunity to share information with students and parents regarding educational/enrichment activities, events and opportunities, which are either available to YCSD students or support division programs. These flyers are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the York County School Division or the schools, but are made available as a community service for our families.

Community announcements can also be found on the division website and each school's website.
