1:1 Technology: Device Collection

All devices, including hotspots, provided to YCSD students, will be collected in the next few weeks. Each school will establish specific processes and dates for collecting student devices and will share that information directly with families. Additionally, two central locations and dates have also been established for Virtual Academy students and families who will need the device through the end of the school year and/or summer instructional programs.

Families who have division-issued devices are encouraged to review device information to ensure they are prepared for the device collection process.

2021-22 Student Immunization Information

Do you have a child entering kindergarten, seventh or twelfth grade in August? If so, your student may need one or more of the following immunizations in accordance with new Virginia Department of Health requirements:

Kindergarten:

  • Two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine given at age 12 months or older.

7th Grade:

  • One dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis) given at age 7 or older.
  • One dose of Meningococcal Vaccine (MenACWY, Menactra, or Menveo) given at age 10 or older.

12th Grade:

  • One dose of Meningococcal Vaccine (MenACWY, Menactra, or Menveo) given at age 16 or older.

While there are no current requirements for students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, the division encourages all community members to help stop the spread of the virus by becoming vaccinated and following ongoing mitigation guidance.

More information about existing and new immunization requirements and exemptions can be found on the division website.

Meal Distribution Update

The final meal distribution for the 2020-21 school year will take place on June 16 when families will receive a 15-day meal bag. YCSD will continue to support families in need of meals throughout the summer months, though changes to distribution will take place.

Summer distribution will occur on Thursdays from 4-6 p.m., beginning on Thursday, July 1, at three locations: Tabb High, Grafton High and Magruder Elementary.

Please Note: After June 16, York High and Queens Lake Middle will no longer serve as meal distribution sites.
