New Student Registration – Mobile Sites

Registration for the 2021-22 school year is now underway! Families are encouraged to complete an online pre-registration form as soon as possible to streamline the full registration process. To assist families with pre-registration, the division’s community engagement bus will be at various locations in May and June. Families can visit any location to receive help completing required forms, have questions answered, and obtain additional information and materials from school division staff and community partners. 2021-22 Virtual Learning Applications

As a reminder, families interested in having children participate in full-time virtual learning for the 2021-22 school year must apply for acceptance into the virtual program. YCSD students accepted into the full-time, yearlong virtual learning program provided by the Virtual VA will remain YCSD students affiliated with their home school. Applications and information about the 2021-22 Virtual Learning Program are now available on the division website. All applications must be received by Friday, May 21.

Summer Academic Programs

Information regarding expanded summer academic programs for grades K-12 is now available on the division website. While the traditional summer remediation programs, credit recovery and new course credit are available, additional enrichment and support programs are also being offered.

Families interested in elementary summer enrichment programs are encouraged to review the Summer Enrichment flyer and follow the directions to express interest. Enrichment programs are also available for students in grades 6-8. Families can review the Summer Academic Program for details and contact their school counselor for additional information.

Elementary Magnet Programs

The application deadline for the 2021-22 elementary magnet schools has been extended to Friday, May 21, 2021. The Waller Mill Fine Arts Magnet School provides students in grades 1–5 with enriched instruction in choral music, exploratory instrumental music, drama, visual arts and dance. The Yorktown Elementary Magnet School provides students in grades 1-5 with enriched instructional opportunities for in-depth studies of math, science and technology, in conjunction with a strong academic program in all subject areas. Applications are available on the division website, and through each elementary school.

Social Emotional Learning Standards

In accordance with legislation passed by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has developed guidance standards for social emotional learning (SEL) for all Virginia public students in grades Kindergarten through 12. The new standards were developed, in collaboration with educators, community leaders, agency personnel, and parents, to align with the Profile of a Virginia Graduate. The VDOE is accepting public comments on the Social Emotional Learning Standards through May 25, 2021. Comments may be submitted online through the Virginia Social Emotional Learning Standards Public Comment Forum.

The York County School Division offers local businesses and organizations the opportunity to share information with students and parents regarding educational/enrichment activities, events and opportunities, which are either available to YCSD students or support division programs. These flyers are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the York County School Division or the schools, but are made available as a community service for our families.
