Grafton High’s FBLA State Conference WinnersPosted on: Wednesday, April 13, 2011On Saturday, April 9, the Grafton High School’s (GHS) Future Business Leaders Association (FBLA) attended their annual State Conference in Reston, VA. With over 12,000 FBLA members in the state of Virginia, the Grafton High Chapter was awarded the honor of 3rd largest chapter in the state with 192 members. GHS also received the Honor Chapter designation. Each competitive event has twenty top students from across the eleven regions of the state. Students compete for the five top awards in each event. Congratulations to the following students: Morgan Irons - 4th place in Public Speaking I; James O'Neal and Bahaa Hamze - 4th place in Desktop Publishing; Christian Howe - 3rd Place in Networking Concepts. The following students won first place in the state and will move on to the National FBLA Competition in Orlando, Florida in June: Connor Cormier – 1st Place in Accounting I; Rand Irons – 1st Place in the Future Business Leader event, the top event of the State Conference. This year Rand Irons has served as a state vice-president representing the TNCC region of the state of Virginia and he was awarded the honor of Who's Who in FBLA. Rand has been a 1st place state winner in four different competitive events during his four years of high school. |
Tabb High Fashion Show for a CausePosted on: Wednesday, April 13, 2011Wednesday, May 18th, Tabb High School's (THS) Fashion Marketing Department is holding their 3rd Annual Fashion Show for a Cause. It will begin at 6:30pm in the THS Auditorium, doors open for ticket purchase at 5:30pm. The cost is $4 a person or $2 if you bring toiletry/hygiene items as donations for York County Social Services. There will be light concessions available before the show and during intermission. There are also AWESOME door prizes from local sports teams, stores, restaurants and more! Your name is entered in the door prize drawings automatically for attending. This year's theme is Fashion Through the Decades. Come out for a fun night of fashion, music and entertainment. Great fun for all ages and body types! One the great benefits of the YMS diverse student body is the opportunity for our students to work with students of different backgrounds and abilities. Pinch Pot Monsters Invade Grafton MiddlePosted on: Friday, April 01, 2011Vicki Layne's sixth grade Exploratory students at Grafton Middle School (GMS) proudly display their awesome pinch pot monsters. The lesson was an introduction to ceramics and to form as an element of art. Each monster was created by hand building a pinch pot which was used for the mouth and body. Students added several features for interest such as fangs, tails and horns. Texture and proper glazing techniques were also requirements. |

Tabb High Student Austin Pierce Chosen as a Delegate to the Virginia All-State ChorusPosted on: Friday, April 01, 2011The Tabb High School (THS) Choral Department lead by Gordon Parr will have outstanding choral member Austin Pierce representing them in the Virginia All-State Chorus. This is one of the highest accolades that can be bestowed on a high school choral student. The group competed at Heritage High School, in Newport News on February 13 with Austin Pierce being selected as a delegate and Lindsey Balson as first alternate to the All-State Chorus. Austin will travel to Salem High School in Virginia Beach on April 28 - 30 to perform. |
Tabb High Boys and Girls State CandidatesPosted on: Friday, April 01, 2011Tabb High School (THS) has selected the following candidates and alternates to attend a week long American Legion sponsored Girls and Boys State program after the end of the school year. The girls will attend Longwood University while the boys will be at Liberty University from June 19 - 25. |
