Yorktown Middle IB Students Honor Virginia Tech

Posted On: Friday, April 22, 2011
Students in Katie Bookbinder's International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) geometry class created and produced a memorial quilt to honor the victims of the April 2007 tragedy at Virginia Tech. Working in collaboration with their MYP visual arts and English courses, students applied their knowledge of geometric shapes to produce the quilt's design and then included poetry inside each of the individual aspects of the quilt. The quilt was the only memorial item allowed to be displayed in the reopened Norris Hall on April 16, 2011, the fourth anniversary of the tragedy.
