Community & Public Relations
The award-winning staff in the office of Community & Public Relations work to keep families, employees and other stakeholders informed and engaged through effective two-way communication. The division uses multiple platforms, including this website, social media, YCSD-TV, rapid notification systems and community forums to provide information and seek input.
The school division welcomes and encourages news coverage from local media outlets. The public relations & communications officer is responsible for responding to media inquiries, arranging staff interviews and coordinating campus access.
The public relations & communications officer also assists members of the public with requests for information made in accordance with Virginia's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
