The York County School Division believes having active, involved and informed parents and families is critical to our students' success. Because effective communication is critical to strong partnerships and engagement, we provide a variety of ways to communicate and engage with our community.

Parent Contact Information

It is very important that parents provide schools with current home address, home phone number and email address (if exists) to ensure schools can reach you with important information. Student contact forms will be provided to all parents at the start of the school year and should be returned immediately.

Emergency Notification

Parents will be notified of emergencies through the division's rapid notification system. Parents are encouraged to remain close to their source of communication, whether it is phone, text or email, to ensure they are receiving accurate and timely updates on the emergency from school division staff.

YCSD App

YCSD offers a mobile app to help families stay on top of what matters most. Homework and grades, staff email directories, school and division notification, social media, calendar of events, menus, confidential bullying report, maps & directions, and more are accessible from your smart phone or tablet. Users control the settings so they receive information from only those schools they care about. It's a quick way and efficient way to stay connected while you're on the go. Download the free app for your iPhone or Android device to get all the information you need at your fingertips!

Getting Started

Step 1: Download the YCSD App

Find the YCSD app in the Apple App Store or on Google Play and download to your mobile device.

Step 2: Log into the YCSD App

To access the complete mobile app experience, including Chat, families will receive an email with steps to set up an account. If you have not yet set up an account, you can proceed by clicking Continue without login. Login is required in order to use Chat. Students and staff will use their YCSD credentials to log in.

Initial Account Setup & Login for Families:

1. Go to the forgot login page
2. Enter the primary contact email address listed on file in Aspen*
3. Click the Submit button to have instructions sent to your email address on how to reset your password. The email will contain your username and a link to set up your password. Please be advised that the password reset email link expires 15 minutes after being sent.
4. Once you've set up your account, open up the YCSD App and enter your username and the password when prompted.

*Contat your child's school if you are not sure what your primary contact email address.

Login for Students & Staff:

1. Enter your YCSD email address as the Username
2. Follow single sign-on prompts by entering your YCSD credentials

Step 3: Click Through the Setup Wizard

Now you will click through a series of screens to configure some initial settings.

Language Select your language to the preferred language you'd like the app to display.
Schools Subscribe to view the content of one or multiple schools. Toggle on to agree to view the content on your mobile app for a particular school.
Notifications Decide the level of notifications you'd like to receive on your mobile app. Select Allow notifications to opt in to notifications, another window will pop up where you can give permission to allow notifications.
Mailing Lists Select the mailing lists to receive push notifications when certain types of messages are sent out.

Aspen Family Portal

Parents can also access private student information online through the Aspen Family Portal. This secure web-based information management system is password-protected and will help to make communication among students, parents, teachers, and administrators more efficient. Families can use the Aspen Family Portal to view student schedules, assignments and grades, as well as daily attendance records and family contact information.

Account information is provided to parents during the enrollment process. If you have not received account access information, please contact your child's school for assistance.
