Yorktown-Zweibrücken Student Exchange Program

The York County School Division and York County are pleased to announce the return of the Yorktown-Zweibrücken Student Exchange Program. This program provides eligible high school students the opportunity to experience time abroad in Germany. In exchange, YCSD students host students from the Zweibrücken school system during the school year. First established in 1976, the exchange program seeks to honor the rich historical connections between the sister cities of Yorktown and Zweibrücken.

Information Sessions

Interested students, parents and chaperones should attend one of the following information sessions:

  • Grafton Middle School - October 15 at 6 p.m.
  • Tabb High School - October 17 at 7:30 a.m.
  • Bruton High School - October 17 at 6 p.m.

Student Eligibility

  • Current sophomore or junior
  • Enrolled in or have completed year three of a world language
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.5
  • Good citizenship

Program Requirements

Applicants must be in good academic standing and demonstrate good citizenship at school and in the community. Selected students will host a student from Zweibrücken April 3-17, 2020. YCSD students will travel to Germany and stay in the home of their host family June 15-29, 2020. While funding for transportation to and from Germany will be provided for selected YCSD students, there will be some out of pocket costs.
