Job Description
Title: MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
Position Type:
Non-Exempt
Primary Function:
Working supervisor of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers in providing high quality maintenance services for the Division's buildings; work may be performed on various shifts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma with at least five years experience in the maintenance field; two years experience in a supervisory position preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of general BOCA, OSHA, and EPA regulations and familiarity with HAZMAT procedures

Good knowledge of safety procedures applicable to building maintenance trades work

Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of building and building systems construction, repairs, and maintenance

Ability to directly supervise 10 to 12 trades mechanics and helpers.

Ability to coordinate, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff.

Ability to interpret and apply school board policies and procedures.

Sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and oral and written communication skills required to perform all performance responsibilities.

Ability to quickly learn procedures used to report information and maintain records.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, basic wiring diagrams, and architectural drawings
Performance Responsibilities:
- Performs specialized trade related work and/or assist other trades in their assigned tasks.

Manages inventory of supplies and tools to the night shift.

May team-lead and coach night shift crews and one preventive maintenance crew.

Inspects and orders repair parts for the teams efficiently through the warehouse.

Assists in overseeing contractual work dealing with minor renovations and projects.

Assists in preparing initial estimates and plans for summer maintenance projects to be put to bid

Serves as quality control on staff maintenance night activities

Evaluates and reports on the efficiency and productivity of assigned staff

Implements and administers work routines and work safety programs

Serves as an on-call emergency worker.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to:
Manager of Building Maintenance
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan. Shift differential pay will apply for other than daytime operations.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
