Title: LEAD SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

Primary Function:
Provides leadership for the Speech Language Pathologists and Speech Language Para Educators. Provides speech and language therapy services to students with disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold an active, valid license in speech-language pathology (full or school only) issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP).
- Knowledge and experience with state-of-the-art assistive technology related to communication.
- Demonstrated work history of willingness to work with all students.
- Demonstrated work history indicating high moral standards and integrity.
- Hold a Master’s degree in communicative sciences and disorders.
- Minimum of five years of school-based speech therapy experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership of a school division speech language pathology program.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a school setting working as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the division’s speech-language services and speech-language pathologists and Speech Language Para Educator assignments.
- Provide leadership to Speech-Language Pathologists and Speech Language Para Educators through facilitating regular professional learning communities (PLC) meetings and individualized coaching and support as needed.
- Monitoring speech language pathologist’s caseloads to ensure compliance with VDOE regulations.
- Maintaining appropriate quantities of assessments and protocols.
- Serve as a liaison between the Associate Director of Student Services and Speech-Language Pathologists and Speech Language Para Educators.
- Serve on various Student Services committees and teams.
- Attend Student Services meetings and relay information to Speech Language Pathologists.
- Collaborate with Human Resources for recruitment.
- Attend Lead SLP VDOE Conferences in fall and spring.
- Attend Medicaid Annual Conference and additional VDOE conferences as needed.
- Review, revise and update YCSD Speech and Language Program Manual.
- Screen, schedule, and participate in interview process for Speech Language Pathologists and Speech Language Para Educators.
- Supervise Speech Language Para Educators.
- Serve as a Clinical Fellow (CF) supervisor and SLP mentor.
- Collaborate with Medicaid Vendor to ensure compliance and consistent billing.
- Complete annual observations and evaluations for Speech Language Pathologists and Speech Language Para Educators.
- Assist with school coverage when vacancies are present.
- Coordinate and provide speech services to students during summer months including extended school year, and make-up services.
- Administer evaluations and participate in child study, eligibility, and IEP meetings during summer months.
- Assess, diagnose and teach students with communication disorders including articulation, language, voice, fluency, and hearing impairments.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
- Coordinate home intervention and consultation services for students receiving speech-language services and their parents.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Manage a caseload that may be an itinerate position to provide direct and indirect services to students with disabilities.
- Participate in ongoing staff development.
- Complete timely billing of Medicaid for speech services.
- Conduct new entrant screenings and participate in Response to Intervention initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Associate Director of Student Services.
Reports to:
Associate Director of Student Services
Terms of Employment:
12 months per year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of licensed personnel.
