Title: INSTRUCTIONAL INNOVATION COACH - ELEMENTARY

Primary Function:
The elementary instructional innovation coach (IIC) assumes responsibility for the planning and delivery of computer science instruction designed for student learning in the classroom and the school. The IIC collaborates with teachers so that STEM and computer science skills are taught in conjunction with curriculum related activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and eligible for a Virginia teaching license
- Three years of exemplary teaching experience
- Experience leading high-quality professional development
- Mentorship or leadership experience preferred
- Experience in technology use and developing technology-based solutions in educational settings
- Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft 365
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to implement appropriate instructional technology to support content curriculum, the YCSD Strategic Plan and the VDOE Profile of a Virginia Graduate.
- Demonstrated ability to remain abreast of current educational research, instructional strategies, and trends in STEM and computer science integration.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with instructional and technical staff.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally, in writing, and through digital media.
- Demonstrated ability to stay abreast of and analyze advancements and trends in educational technology and make recommendations for changes and improvements to systems and/or programs that support instruction.
- Considerable knowledge of internet safety and cybersecurity.
- Considerable knowledge of effective technology use for STEM and computer science instruction.
- Basic knowledge of coding, robotics, and other logic-based programming.
- Strong foundation in pedagogy and teaching methodologies.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Researches, investigates and uses instructional devices and applications to support teaching and learning.
- Researches best practices and resources in the area of technology and computer science integration
- Plan and prepare for classroom instruction.
- Plans collaboratively with classroom teachers so that STEM and computer science skills are taught in conjunction with curriculum related activities.
- Provides a positive classroom environment that promotes student learning.
- Uses a variety of instructional strategies to meet varied student needs.
- Complies with state laws, school board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed for an orderly, productive classroom and school.
- Encourages the productive citizenship and respectful conduct of students.
- Identifies resources and personnel to meet the needs of individual students.
- Maintains accurate, complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Informs parents regarding the instructional program, and other school issues.
- Demonstrates positive school-community relations.
- Works cooperatively with colleagues, support staff, and administration.
- Engages in professional growth activities and demonstrates professionalism.
- Identifies needed resources and materials for classroom instruction.
- Contributes to the total school program.
- Performs other duties as assigned by school administrator.

Terms of Employment:
Salary based on Licensed Pay Plan plus a per diem rate for 5 additional days beyond the ten-month licensed employee contract.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of licensed personnel.
