Job Description

Title:  CURRICULUM ASSISTANT

Primary Function:

To help teachers translate curriculum goals and objectives into meaningful learning experiences for each student in the division.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a postgraduate professional license in school administration and shall have completed those courses at the graduate level that are pertinent to the assignment
  • 5 years experience as a teacher and/or administrator.
  • Have demonstrated professional and personal characteristics for working effectively with school personnel and members of the community.
  • Possess high moral standards and integrity.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the construction and evaluation of classroom testing instruments.
  • Serve as a consultant in the selection of instructional supplies, equipment, and books.
  • Assist in the planning of workshops and other inservice programs to help raise the level of instructional performance.
  • Recommend ways in which the curriculum can be adjusted to meet the special learning needs of exceptional children.
  • Engage, as assigned, in research related to curriculum development.
  • Participate in proposed and ongoing curriculum development projects.
  • Help plan and carry out staff and parent curriculum meetings.
  • Communicate the approved curriculum to the professional staff and maintain a list of approved instructional materials.
  • Support the Director of Curriculum and Staff Development in working with principals and teacher committees to coordinate grade level and department meetings for horizontal and vertical continuity throughout the instructional program.
  • Assist in supervising classroom instruction.
  • Evaluate instructional applicant files and interview/assess instructional applicants for hiring purposes.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Staff Development and/or the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.

Position Type: Exempt

Reports to: Director of Curriculum and Student Achievement

Terms of Employment: Eleven months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.

Evaluation: Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of administrative personnel.
