Title: COORDINATOR OF ONLINE LEARNING

Primary Function:
Assume responsibility and provide leadership in the development and operation of Virtual High School and other division online learning programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least three years of exemplary teaching experience required.
- Postgraduate professional license with an endorsement in school administration and completion of those courses at the graduate level that are pertinent to the assignment.
- Experience teaching in or managing a virtual learning environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Considerable skill in the use of computer technology and data analysis in performance of tasks.
- Experience in working with extensive educational technologies in both planning and implementation.
- Extensive knowledge of online learning managements systems
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and members of the community.
- Demonstrates positive school-community relations.
- Ability to prepare required written reports, documents, and presentations using clear and concise language.
- Ability to work effectively with school personnel, students, parents, and members of the community.
- Extensive knowledge of Virginia high school graduation requirements and VDOE and division policies.

Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for the instructional program.
- Foster a positive school climate that promotes student learning.
- Monitor and assess student progress.
- Ensure appropriate student conduct consistent with school standards and division policies.
- Provide staff leadership, development, and training for school administrators and teaching staff involved in Virtual High School, Virtual VA and other online instructional programs.
- Supervise and evaluate staff.
- Provide effective management of financial accounts, instructional materials, and equipment.
- Resolve conflicts and manage crises.
- Exhibit effective human relations and communication skills.
- Develop positive school-community relations.
- Interpret the online instructional program to parents and the community.
- Provide coaching and support for students to meet or exceed Virginia high school graduation requirements.
- Recommend ways in which the curriculum can be modified to meet the learning needs of exceptional students.
- Engage in research related to curriculum development and specific instructional programs particularly those emerging technologies and instructional strategies relevant to a highly effective online learning environment.
- Analyze data to make informed instructional decisions.
- Collaborate in the development of curriculum projects and instructional publications; assist in the organization and implementation of curriculum-related meetings for staff and parents.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend appropriate educational technologies for online programs
- Serve as a resource for the revision/development and assessment of the Educational Technology Plan.
- Develop and implement data informed professional learning opportunities for VHS staff.
- Manage the training and enrollment of students for Virtual High School; assist in facilitation of online instruction in Virtual High School.
- Provide leadership to implement Virtual High School summer school program.
- Oversee posting and revisions of courses to the Virtual High School curriculum.
- Develop technology training concepts, reports, and budgets related to online technology.
- Work with the Department of Information Technology to ensure technical requirements are met for Virtual High School and online learning opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Reports to:
Director of Secondary Instruction
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of administrative personnel.
