Title:   CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER (COO)

Position Type: Exempt

Primary Function:

The Chief Operations Officer plans, organizes and directs staff and manages the assets allocated to supporting the delivery of instruction in the school division.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Holds an Ed. D., MBA, JD, or CPA Certificate
  • Have at least five years’ experience in administration
  • Experience as a school principal preferred
  • Have demonstrated professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with school personnel and members of the community
  • Possess high moral standards and integrity

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Administer matters relating to the daily operations of schools
  • Supervise and coordinate management of the following services provided by School Board employees: student transportation; food services; custodial services; management and student information;  and division property used by individual employees such as technology
  • Direct the development and management of safety and security protocols and procedures
  • Oversee matters related to student attendance
  • Manage the planning process for building and maintaining facilities needed to deliver the program of instruction
  • Facilitate the preparation of the Facilities Master Plan (FMP)
  • Contribute to the preparation of  the capital improvement program (CIP) for submission to the Superintendent
  • Supervise the corrective and preventive maintenance programs for the school division's physical plant and the motor vehicle fleet
  • Coordinate procurement of contractors' services for maintenance and construction projects funded by the budget and supervise all approved capital construction projects
  • Coordinate procurement of materials, goods and services needed to operate the school division
  • Supervise athletic programs for middle and high schools
  • Oversee matters related to the procurement of athletic training services; before and after school child care; and vending.
  • Supervise the management and operation of the School Board Office building
  • Advise the Superintendent of matters requiring the services of the Deputy County Attorney
  • Review and regulate lease agreements of cellular telephones located on school board property
  • Attend all School Board meetings and to prepare reports, recommendations and memoranda as required by the Superintendent
  • Interpret and to communicate the school division's policies, practices, and procedures to the public at large
  • Assist the Superintendent in providing leadership in developing, achieving and maintaining the best possible educational services and support programs
  • Follow established YCSD policies and procedures at all time

Terms of Employment:
Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of administrative personnel.
