Title: CAREER COACH

Primary Function:
The Career Coach (CC) works with the Coordinator of Career Development (K-12) to support YCSD Strategic Plan objectives and division initiatives related to career readiness. The CC develops and implements career preparation experiences at the high school level to include identifying appropriate work-based learning opportunities for students and assisting students in pursuing academic and career objectives. In addition, the CC maintains careful records, monitors progress, and reports data related to career readiness.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of work experience in a professional or educational setting
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
- Experience in advising high school students for college/career opportunities, preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships between educators and businesses and community
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule and attend meetings related to work-based learning
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prepare required written reports, documents and presentations using clear and concise language.
- Experience in collecting, analyzing and reporting data
- Demonstrated leadership on start-up projects
- Documented ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors
- Proficiency in the use of computer technology and data analysis in performance of tasks.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide support and technical assistance to division staff regarding required procedures and expectations for student engagement in work-based learning experiences
- Promote all areas of work-based learning with students, parents, school staff, businesses and the community
- Coordinate and manage student engagement in work-related experiences, to include Credit for Work Experience and Service Learning courses
- Create work-based learning opportunities by connecting with employers and community organizations on a frequent basis to enrich the work-related experience programs.
- Generate state and local paperwork for training agreements, reports, evaluations
- Collect data and track progress toward implementation of the internship/mentorship/job experience objective in the strategic plan
- Work collaboratively with school staff to plan and implement Career Fairs
- Work collaboratively with school staff to plan and implement parent information sessions related to career preparation
- Work collaboratively with school counselors and classroom teachers to gather applications, arrange interviews, and secure student placement
- Contact and recruit business professionals and work-based learning sites for the EngagedIN YCSD program
- Develop and implement a communication network between the student, teacher, counselor, mentor, parents and work site designee
- Facilitate workplace readiness training for students
- Travel with students on field trips and/or student job sites as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Reports to:
Coordinator of Career Development (K-12)
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months per year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of licensed personnel.
