Title: ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES - SECONDARY

Primary Function:
To assist the Director of Student Services in the implementation and operation of school programs and services related to student services, athletics, bullying prevention, student activities, graduation, attendance, discipline, school connectedness, school safety, textbooks, and Title IX.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a postgraduate professional certificate with an endorsement in K-12 Supervision and Administration.
- Have at least five (5) years of experience in school administration at the secondary level.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated professional knowledge with a public school system necessary for working effectively with school personnel and members of the community.
- Effective communication with students, parents, school and division personnel, and members of the community.
- Executive level leadership and coaching of site-based administrators.
- Research, interpret and implement Code of Virginia and Virginia Department of Education policy and guidelines pertaining to duties and areas of responsibility.
- Proficient use of the computer, internet, and multi-media applications
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Understanding of best practices for student discipline and attendance.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assists with the coordination of all programs assigned to the Director of Student Services, to achieve Strategic Plan goals and objectives.
- Assists with the operation of secondary schools.
- Provides professional development on best practices for student discipline, athletics, Title IX, health-related services, military programs (includes MFLC counselors), student attendance, and student connections.
- Reports to the Director of Student Services of the effectiveness of assigned programs, KPIs and data metrics
- Coordinate with York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office (YPSO), Child Protective Services (CPS) and York County Court Services
- Present to the school board at work sessions and regular meetings
- Assists the Coordinator of Enrollment and Attendance with attendance concerns at the secondary-level.
- Assists with assessing and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of student discipline data and procedures including a multi-tiered system of support.
- Assists with the submission of the Virginia Department of Education Student Behavior and Administrative Response Report (SBAR).
- Assists, as needed with responding to emergency situations as appropriate and monitors division communication tools as needed.
- Coordinates and leads Administrative Hearings and School Board Hearings (Secondary).
- Coordinates the development of Request For Proposals (RFPs) for athletics trainers and vending
- Assists with the resolution of parental concerns.
- Confers with the School Board Attorney as needed for assigned duties.
- Serves as a member of the Division Title IX Team, as the primary investigator for secondary-level student matters.
- Coaches and provides support to administrators on school operational matters.
- Serves as member of the Schools/County Coordination Team.
- Supervises athletics and coordinates Virginia High School League activities.
- Assists in the implementation of disciplinary procedures of the school division.
- Serves as the liaison for middle and high school athletic directors, including the monitoring of Bailey Field activities.
- Coordinates textbook replacement process and inventory process.
- Directs the creation, editing and revision of middle and high school athletic handbooks, and YCSD Coaches Handbooks.
- Coordinates and executes lease agreements with assistance from the Chief Operations Officer and Director of Maintenance and Facilities Support.
- Assists with editing and revising the Student Handbook and Conduct Code.
- Serves as the York County Youth Commission Liaison for Town Hall Meetings and Outstanding Youth Awards.
- Assists with the coordination of the annual submission and oversight of the Title IV Federal Grant.
- Assists in the implementation of the Community Services Grant.
- Coordinates the Division Bullying Prevention committee.
- Assists with the screening of prospective administrative personnel.
- Coordinates the division graduation and commencement ceremonies with the Director of Student Services, the Associate Director of Student Services (elementary), and building principals.
- Coordinates the textbook inventory and purchasing process.
- Attends VHSL Meetings for Athletic Administrators (Region and State).
- Liaison between schools and athletic trainers/service providers.
- Coordinates the Virginia DCJS Secondary School Climate Survey administration.
- Serves as the alternative safety manager during reunification procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and regulations on evaluation of administrative personnel.
