Title:   COORDINATOR OF TESTING & ACCOUNTABILITY

Position Type: Exempt

Primary Function:

Coordinates the state and division assessment programs, to include disaggregation and analysis of school and division-wide testing and instructional data.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a postgraduate professional license and shall have completed those courses at the graduate level that are pertinent to the assignment; 3 years’ experience as a teacher and/or administrator; abilities and skills, as evidenced in the following performance responsibilities. Administrative endorsement preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Considerable skill in the use of computer technology and data analysis in performance of tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and members of the community.
  • Demonstrates positive school-community relations.
  • Ability to prepare required written reports including clear and concise reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic statistics preferred.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates and supervises the implementation of all state assessment programs throughout all division schools to include, but not limited to, Standards of Learning (SOL), Growth, Virginia Alternative Assessment Program (VAAP) and English Learner (EL) assessments.
  • Collaboratively (with YCSD Senior Programmer Analyst) manage and report-out on the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) associated with the Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plans.
  • Develops and maintains the division assessment calendar and 180-day student calendar annually in collaboration with the Departments of Instruction, Student Services and School Administration.
  • Manages, processes, and distributes all state testing materials and oversees test administration and security.
  • Plans and conducts training for all staff assigned to testing programs to ensure adherence to established policies, procedures and standards. 
  • Manages division level content specific assessment programs.
  • Assists in the review of student transcripts and graduation cohort rosters to determine verified credit needs and preliminary graduation data.
  • Reviews and approves all locally awarded verified credit (LAVC) and credit accommodation (CA) paperwork. 
  • Supports the development and implementation of the Balanced Assessment program to include Local Alternative Assessments (LAA).
  • Maintains division assessment records.
  • Assists in the construction and evaluation of classroom and division-wide assessment instruments.
  • Engages, as assigned, in research related to assessment and instruction.
  • Disaggregates and analyzes a variety of division-wide data related to state, division, and classroom assessment and instruction.
  • Provides administrators with results of data disaggregation and analysis in a useable format.
  • Works with Information Services to develop, enhance and utilize data analysis tools.
  • Develops, collaborates on, implements, and evaluates professional development to support staff with current national, state and local accountability measures, assessment best practices and educational trends.
  • Manages all data needed for state accreditation and federal accountability.
  • Participates in local, regional, and state organizations, conferences, and trainings; communicates all relevant information to stakeholders.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Virginia Department of Education, other school divisions, departments and schools regarding the implementation of student testing programs and the reporting of results.
  • Participates in department activities.
  • Assists in the review of local, state and federal policy and compliance reports. 
  • Evaluates instructional applicant files and interviews/assesses instructional applicants for hiring purposes, including all Assessment and Compliance Coordinator (ACC) applicants.
  • Serves as the College Board coordinator (AP, PSAT) and supports the division SAT and ACT coordinator.
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the testing budget.
  • Collaborates with school and division administration on attendance policies and chronic absenteeism data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to:
Chief Academic Officer
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of administrative personnel.
