Title: CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST

Primary Function:
The CTE Instructional Specialist is responsible for supporting the division’s secondary CTE instructional programs and initiatives. This position will be responsible for the administration, compliance, reporting, and data analysis of CTE credentialing exams. This position will support the development and implementation of student work-based learning and CTE dual enrollment opportunities. The CTE Instructional Specialist will collaborate with teachers and administrators to update CTE coursework in the program of studies and ensure effective integration of CTE competencies into the curriculum. This position will perform administrative tasks such as curriculum development, instructional resources procurement, and preparing reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or higher and possess a valid Virginia Teaching License.
- Minimum 5 years full-time CTE teaching experience.
- Virginia License in administration and supervision preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development and administering CTE industry credential exams.

Performance Responsibilities:
- Assists with CTE industry certification exam administration, data disaggregation, and state reporting. Collaborate with administrative staff, CTE department chair, and school counselors to support student achievement on industry certification exams, including seniors in need of an industry certification to meet graduation requirements. Uses data to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making.
- Assists with planning, organizing, facilitating, and promoting meaningful work-based learning experiences for students. Develop and maintain business and community partnerships to support placement of students in work-based learning experiences. Conducts work-based learning program audits to ensure compliance with school division and state guidance and regulations. Remains current on regional and state workforce development initiatives, labor market trends, and work-based learning opportunities. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of work-based learning experiences.
- Observes CTE classrooms, monitors implementation of curriculum, shares effective instructional strategies, and provides supportive and specific feedback to teachers. Remains current on instructional coaching pedagogy, CTE trends and best practices.
- Monitors student enrollment in CTE courses, alignment of courses with the current industry trends, and additional data to ensure CTE course offerings are relevant to students’ post high school career plans.
- Supports the development and revision of the school division’s CTE curriculum aligned to state competencies, career pathways and industry standards.
- Assists with researching, acquiring, and maintaining an inventory of CTE textbooks, software, equipment, materials and supplies.
- Assists with verifying data for state and federal reports and ensures Student Competency Records are completed annually and follow state guidelines for retentions of scholastic records.
- Participates on advisory committees, cultivates business and community partnerships, and represents the school division at regional and state meetings.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:
Twelve months per year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of licensed personnel.
