Title:   PROGRAM COORDINATOR - SCHOOL OF THE ARTS (SOA)

Position Type: Exempt

Primary Function:

The Program Coordinator of the York County School Division's School of the Arts (SOA) program, to include the middle school mSAM and the elementary school fine arts magnet programs, is responsible for overseeing its primary functions. This includes leading recruitment efforts to attract talented students to the program at all levels, developing and sustaining the instructional program for enrolled students by providing vision, expertise, and necessary knowledge, and promoting the program within the York County School Division community. Additionally, the program coordinator assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the high school program, ensuring its smooth functioning and adherence to established standards and goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Administration endorsement required. Enrollment in an administration endorsement program may be considered.
  • Master’s degree in field with a minimum of three years teaching experience.
  • Coaching and/or leadership experience.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary curriculum development.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Possess working knowledge of best practices and current trends in fine arts education. An emphasis on literary arts, drama to include technical theater, dance arts, visual arts, and music is preferred.
  • Possess working knowledge of best practices in the leadership of specialty academic programs.
  • Possess working knowledge of school division policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate professional development for instructional staff.
  • Ability to analyze data and produce accurate and timely reports.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with division and building-level leadership.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Teaches classes assigned.
  • Contributes to the development of the vision for a dynamic K-12 fine arts program in YCSD and leads the implementation of strategies and actions to support the vision.
  • Serves as spokesperson and liaison for the YCSD SOA program.
  • Develops, monitors, and revises multidisciplinary curriculum to align with respective course standards and objectives to include appropriate assessments and supplementary instructional resources.
  • Delivers high-quality professional development and coaching to support instructional staff.
  • Utilizes data to identify areas of growth and implement strategies to demonstrate improvement in student achievement and enrollment.
  • Supervises and evaluates teaching staff.
  • Collaborates with division and school-based leadership to ensure proper fiscal management of program budget and resources in compliance with school board policies.
  • Collaborates with division and school-based leadership to purchase and inventory textbooks, instructional materials, and supplies in accordance to school board policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborates with division staff to plan, develop, and implement strategies and activities to support students’ academic performance.
  • Collaborates with building-leadership to arrange course schedules and supervises the selection of students for the program.
  • Coordinates and implements recruitment activities throughout each academic year in support of program enrollment.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff to plan and facilitate the implementation of various productions, performances, and activities.
  • Arranges workshops, speakers, performances, and related field experiences to support program implementation.
  • Coordinates activities of the parent/community advisory board.
  • Establishes effective professional working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date student and program records.
  • Attends relevant local, state, and regional meetings.
  • Performs administrative duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Bruton High School Principal
Terms of Employment:
Ten months and ten days. Salary according to school board pay plan plus supplement.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of licensed personnel.
