Title: PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT - PART-TIME HOURLY
Position Type:
Non-Exempt
Primary Function:
To assist the registered Physical Therapist in implementing a plan of therapy
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in working with children, especially multiply handicapped students
- Knowledge and understanding of child growth and development
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of therapy procedures and practices
- Understanding of subject matter reinforcement practices
- Certification as a Physical Therapy aid, or completion of a one year apprenticeship under a registered Physical Therapist, or any equivalent experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities before receiving a certificate as a Physical Therapy Aide
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff members
- Good physical condition able to engage in heavy lifting of students

- Professional Physical Therapy Assistant
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist the registered Physical Therapist in implementing the Physical Therapy Program
- Oversee and organize outdoor activities for children
- Help in lifting heavier children both in physical therapy and in the bathrooms
- Daily assist in getting children to and from buses and lunches to and from the classroom as required
- Other duties in physical therapy as assigned by the physical therapist

Professional Physical Therapist
Terms of Employment:
Hourly rate according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
