Primary Function:
Position is responsible under the direction of the principal for assisting with the development and support of assigned teachers; providing staff development; identifying the instructional needs of teachers; serving as liaison between the department and administrators.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or a related field. At least 3 years of successful teaching in field preferred. Must be eligible for, or in possession or an appropriate Virginia teaching license.
- Must possess ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, families, & the public
Performance Responsibilities:
- Attend leadership team meetings outside of contractual hours.
- Assist substitute teachers as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the division’s basic instructional philosophy and congruent with course / SOL standards.
- Shares current research in the respective field with fellow teachers.
- Works with instructional staff to analyze data relative to student learning, align the curriculum to insure proper pacing of curriculum and development of results oriented instructional plans.
- Maintains inventory of departmental materials.
- Provides instructional leadership and mentoring to assigned teachers.
- Facilitate PLC meetings and grade level meetings.
- Facilitate the design, implementation, and monitoring of the school improvement plan
- Model in daily practice the mission and vision of YCSD
- Analyze school wide data to identify needs
- Provide input and feedback on school policies, procedures, and practices
- Assist with the budget plan and determine school wide needs.
- Identify, coordinate, and facilitate department needs for professional development initiatives for instructional staff as directed by the building principal.
- Foster a culture of continuous and collaborative reflection, learning, and improvement.
- Lead the instructional improvement process in the school including analysis of data, research and instructional design, professional development, support with implementation, mentoring, and review of implementation performance.
- Other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee
- Act as a liaison between the grade level/ department and administration within a timely manner
- Provides instructional leadership and support to assigned teachers.
- Plans, prepares and evaluates professional development initiatives for instructional staff.
- Maintains inventory of departmental materials.
- Works with instructional staff to analyze data relative to student learning, align the curriculum to insure proper pacing of curriculum and development of results oriented instructional plans.

Terms of Employment:
Additional days may be contracted for specific job assignments. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of licensed personnel.
