Title:   COORDINATOR OF DIGITAL MEDIA AND DESIGN

Position Type: Exempt

Primary Function:

Develops and implements public relations, marketing and media relations strategies and materials to effectively share school division news and promote the division through various communication channels and platforms (print and web design; video creation and production; digital photography; copy writing, proofing, and editing). The ideal candidate is an analytical, creative thinker who can multi-task, work both independently and collaboratively, and take initiative to see and meet departmental needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in communications, graphic arts/design, or related fields. Three to five years of experience in public relations, design, publications, and/or communications; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Proficiency in storytelling, while maintaining brand consistency.
  • Proficient with production and post-production processes in photography and videography.
  • Excellent oral and written communication including writing, proofing and editing. Attention to detail is essential.
  • Advanced capabilities with communications technology, including Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and all social media platforms. Good organizational, time management and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines while addressing competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with front-end web design and how it applies to CSS, PHP, and HTML.
  • Knowledge of color methods, typography, graphics, printing processes and design layout skills as well as ADA compliance requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school personnel and community members.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach when working with personal computer equipment, peripherals, and associated electronic network equipment and to lift twenty-five (25) pounds unassisted.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Manage multimedia and video services for the division, including concept creating, writing scripts, filming, and production of videos.
  • Manage division photographic catalog which includes sorting and keywording photos, editing and exporting for division wide usage.
  • Coordinate with York County Video Services (YCSD-TV) production staff to create video projects.
  • Collaborate with various departments, analyze requests, establish priorities, and recommend best communications and distribution methods to achieve desired results.
  • Produce digital and print promotional materials, including infographics, presentation resources, podcasts, etc. Identify target audiences, tone, and purpose for each product.
  • Utilize Microsoft products to create and maintain branded templates for division-wide, internal use.
  • Ensure all digital materials meet copyright laws and ADA compliance.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining attribution guidelines for communication standards, use of division logos, images, and presentation materials.
  • Assist in designing, maintaining and enhancing the school division’s websites and intranet.
  • Assist in managing and enhancing the school division’s social media presence to advance the division’s mission and communicate with the community.
  • Assist in the development of communication brand and style standards and provide consultation to schools and school organizations in this regard.
  • Assists with the coordination of special events and activities for the purpose of ensuring these activities are well planned and operate smoothly.
  • Provide technical assistance and training on a variety of platforms to users of varied abilities.
  • Maintain the department’s digital equipment.

Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal, to operate equipment; hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to the School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
