Title: HUMAN RESOURCES TECHNICIAN
Position Type:
Non-Exempt
Primary Function:
Performs a variety of routine office procedures using clerical and basic computer skills with appropriate instruction and medium supervision to assist with the Human Resources Department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree required; Bachelor degree preferred; 2 years of Human Resource experience required; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which would provide the acceptable knowledge, abilities and skills, as evidenced in the following performance responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of standard office practices and equipment.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Access programs.
- Professional attitude and good communication skills.
- Exhibits correct use of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to quickly learn procedures used to report information and maintain records.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of Human Resources information and personnel records.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Uses microcomputer programs required to accomplish assigned work, e.g. word processing and data input.
- Completes employee badges to include photographs and distribution.
- Assists with collection of new hire paperwork to include paper documentation being converted to electronic files.
- Assists in the preparation of a variety of letters including offer letters, promotions, separation, COBRA, FMLA and retirement letters.
- Assists in the preparation and distribution of contracts and/or personnel actions.
- Assists in the preparation of announcements and advertisements for vacant positions.
- Assists with processing substitute teacher applications, scheduling interviews, processing entries in electronic employee databases, and administering monthly reconciliation in partnership with campus users.
- Assists with sorting and distribution of mail room
- Acts as primary backup for front desk reception.
- Assists benefits, compensation and staffing departments with data collection and entry, phone call follow-ups, and correspondence.
- Works collaboratively on employment recognition activities.
- Support internal communications.
- Maintains confidentiality of reports, records, correspondence, and communications when required to handle such materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned

Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal/typewriter; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds.

Supervisor of Benefits & Compensation or Supervisor of Staffing & Retention
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to the School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
