Title: SERVICE TECHNICIAN HELPER

Primary Function:
Perform a variety of skilled and unskilled work associated with maintenance of school board vehicles, light and heavy duty trucks and buses as well as small engine repairs (lawnmowers, weedeaters, chain saws etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and experience in the maintenance and repair of autos, light and heavy duty trucks and buses, and small engine repair. Possession of a valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at hire or a CDL Learner’s Permit at hire and the proper endorsements within 30 business days after hire. Knowledge of tire changing skills (large and small tire trucks and buses.) Familiar with lubrication of autos, light and heavy duty trucks and buses. Familiar with automotive shop terminology and tools Knowledge of upholstery repairs, making and installing covers on buses and some trucks. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity and oral and written communication skills required to perform all performance responsibilities, including ability to lift 50 pounds
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist in the repair of light and heavy duty trucks and buses; work on small repairs unsupervised.

Perform proper lubrication of autos, light and heavy duty trucks, buses, and miscellaneous equipment.

Fuel buses and other vehicles.

Repair seats, both buses and trucks, using knowledge of upholstery work.

Repair small engines (lawnmowers, weedeaters, chain saws, etc.)

Maintain a pleasant attitude in the shop and throughout the school division.

Perform related work as assigned by Manager of Vehicle Maintenance.
Reports to:
Manager of Vehicle Maintenance
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
