Primary Function:
Performs a variety of intermediate and increasingly complex tasks and job assignments using typing, word processing, clerical, organizational, and computer skills with adequate supervision. Works independently after receiving instruction; may perform more specialized assignments requiring specific program knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent and additional business/secretarial courses; two years related work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of standard office practices and equipment and standard proofreading symbols on edited work; demonstrates knowledge of standard document formats taught in business courses or shown in reference handbooks.

Basic knowledge of spreadsheet software as exhibited by use of beginner level program functions and basic accounting/bookkeeping procedures.

Proficiency, in use of word processing software as exhibited by use of program functions at beginner and intermediate levels; exhibits use of correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Possesses keyboarding skills with which to produce accurate work in a timely manner.

Ability to deal with members of the general public in a pleasant and effective manner both on the telephone and in person and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Professional attitude and good communications skills.

Ability to learn other microcomputer programs as required and quickly learn procedures used to report information and maintain records.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Prepares from draft (diskette, dictaphone, handwritten) routine and complex documents in proper form.

Becomes knowledgeable of School Board policies and administrative and clerical procedures which apply to School Board Office operations.

Keeps accurate records to enable ordering, receipt and distribution of supplies and maintains a ledger if required.

Maintains confidentiality of reports, records, correspondence, and communications when required to handle such information; maintains files to ensure easy access to information.

Handles telephone calls in courteous manner, taking accurate and complete telephone messages or relay call to appropriate person.

Verifies program expenditures using central office printout as a cross reference.

Uses microcomputer programs required to accomplish assigned work, especially word processing and spreadsheet software.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to:
Manager of School Board Office Building or Director
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
