Title: SECRETARY II - DESKTOP PUBLISHING

Primary Function:
Performs a variety of intermediate and increasingly complex tasks and job assignments using typing, word processing, clerical, organizational, and computer skills with emphasis on desktop publishing; works independently after receiving instruction and with minimum supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional business/secretarial courses or two years' related work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of standard office practices and equipment.

Demonstrated knowledge of standard document formats and specific document formats used in assigned area.

Exhibits use of correct English grammar, spelling and punctuation; recognizes standard proofreading symbols on edited work.

Professional attitude and good communications skills.

Proficiency in use of word processing software, desktop publishing and graphic design software; initiative/ability to learn other microcomputer programs as required.

Ability to work with a variety of computer applications, printers, and scanning devices.

Ability to accomplish a variety of jobs with speed and efficiency.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to follow oral and written directions.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Performs desktop publishing and production typing for the School Board Office staff and schools when requested.

Prepares from draft routine and complex documents in proper form.

Acts as a consultant in helping staff develop good computer-based graphics.

Operates computers and peripherals for word processing and data input functions.

Maintains confidentiality of reports, records, correspondence, and communications when required to handle such information.

Maintains computer files in a manner that ensures easy access to information.

Maintains computer files of school division publications, School Board Policy Manual, Superintendent's Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures.

Keeps abreast of current developments in desktop publishing.

Shows flexibility in responding to changing priorities.

Maintains a pleasant attitude, being tactful and courteous toward co-workers.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to:
Manager of School Board Office Building
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
