Title:   SCHOOL CAFETERIA MANAGER

Position Type: Non-Exempt

Primary Function:

Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of school food service for ultimate health, comfort, and benefit of the students. To ensure an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness in which students are served nutritious meals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with experience as a cafeteria worker.
  • Working knowledge of computer and willingness to try new procedures.
  • Ability to work well with people especially children and maintain a pleasant and positive attitude.
  • Must be extremely flexible.
  • Must be able to work from written instructions.
  • Must be trained in record keeping state and federal reports.
  • Ability to meet public effectively and work with principals and directors.
  • Ability to quickly learn procedures used to report information and maintain records.
  • Ability to manually move, shelve, stack, or raise from floor to table or serving area heavy objects (pots, pans, trays, and food supplies) weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to prepare required written reports.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Management of the entire operation of Food Services in assigned school in cooperation with the principal and the central Food Services Department.
  • Serving lunch according to schedule set by principal.
  • Establishing and maintaining good relationship with school staff.
  • Implementing the federal and state guidelines for the National School Lunch and Breakfast program.
  • Responsible to central office for all reports and correspondence pertaining to the National School Lunch and Breakfast program.
  • Responsible for training experienced and new employees.
  • Planning efficient work schedule for employees.
  • Supervising work of assigned employees.
  • Keeping accurate records required.
  • Order food and supplies.
  • Give instructions for setting up serving line.
  • Supervise service of meals and kitchen duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager of School Food Services.
Reports to:
Manager of School Food Services
Terms of Employment:
195 days a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
