Title: OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY ASSISTANT

Primary Function:
To assist the registered Occupational Therapist in implementing student Occupational Therapy Programs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in working with children

Knowledge and understanding of child growth and development
-
Completion of two years of college with major work in education or a related field or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities

A willingness to learn and to work in the Occupational Therapy program

Good written and verbal communication skills
-
Knowledge of therapy procedures and practices
-
Ability to cooperate with staff members
-
Good physical condition able to engage in the heavy lifting of students
Performance Responsibilities:
- Participate in group therapy procedures
-
Requisition occupational therapy supplies as needed
-
Assists in construction and use of supportive and prosthetic devices
-
Help classroom teachers in positioning children for posture both for health and for maximum hand skills usage

Assists in the training activities of daily living, such as feeding and dressing
-
Maintain written therapy program and related records
-
Work in individual therapy as assigned by the Occupational Therapist supervisor
-
Keep daily attendance records and submit end of moth attendance sheet

Implement programs for group workshops
Reports to:
Occupational Therapist
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
