Title:   DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE AND FACILITIES SUPPORT

Position Type: Exempt

Primary Function:

Provides leadership, oversight, and management in the maintenance of physical school plants.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required with Engineering or Construction emphasis preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which would provide the acceptable knowledge, skills and abilities, as evidenced in the following essential job functions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic principles of construction and maintenance.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Determines the cost requirement and priorities of all maintenance work requests.
  • Visits job sites, schools and support buildings on a regular basis to observe work progress and to inspect for maintenance and cleaning requirements.
  • Leads the road assessment team
  • Coordinates communications, resources, and processes related to school safety with the  York Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, Fire and Life Safety, York County Emergency Management Office, and other governmental organizations
  • Is responsible for the division snow removal program
  • Requisitions equipment and supplies needed by the department and develops specifications for work required by local contractors.
  • Coordinates with the York County Grounds Maintenance Department the appropriate maintenance for grounds, parking lots, fencing, playgrounds, and athletic fields.
  • Establishes and implements guidelines for the division or responsibility for minor in-school repairs and emergency repairs between maintenance and custodial staffs.
  • Inspects each building annually, and more often if necessary, and confers with Principals regarding custodial work.
  • Prepares budgets including the Capital Improvement Program.
  • Supervises the Manager of Building Maintenance and the Manager of Custodial Services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to:
Chief Operations Officer
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months a year. Salary according to School Board Pay Plan.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of administrative personnel
