Real-World Writing with Real Results

Posted On: Thursday, February 23, 2012
For a persuasive writing lesson, students in Abbey Padua’s english class at Grafton Middle School (GMS) chose from many different real-world writing topics. Maegan Junkins and Alexys Strachan chose to write to Grafton Animal Hospital located locally in Yorktown, Virginia recommending each other for the position of veterinarian. They were delighted when they received a personal reply from Melanie Storrs, the office manager at Grafton Animal Hospital. These students learned more than just the purpose of persuasion; they learned that their words are potent and their writing is powerful.
