York County School Division Invited to Join White House Digital Promise Initiative

On Friday, September 16, at the invitation of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Eric Williams, Ed.D., superintendent of York County School Division (YCSD), attended the White House announcement of a national Digital Promise initiative to use technology to support learning. Digital Promise is a new national center created by Congress with bipartisan support to advance technologies that can transform teaching and learning. The initiative is being lead by a number of prominent leaders in education and technology. The Digital Promise initiative will focus on three key challenges: Identifying breakthrough technologies, Learning faster what’s working and what’s not and Transforming the market for learning technologies. YCSD was chosen as one of seven schools and school districts cited by the White House in materials regarding the initiative. YCSD has been invited to join a League of Innovative Schools dedicated to innovation in learning technologies. YCSD is planning to participate in some, but not all, of the initiatives listed here.
