Posted On: Thursday, September 23, 2010
Yorktown Middle School (YMS) has been officially awarded the prestigious title of IB World School by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). Currently in its third year of operating as a Middle Years Programme (MYP), YMS is recognized for its commitment to the IB Mission of developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Over the past two years, the MYP faculty has developed an in-depth course of study that infuses the York County School Division curriculum with interdisciplinary connections and global mindedness. The journey to implement the MYP also featured a two-day evaluation by representatives of IBO. Designation as an IB World School allows Yorktown Middle School to continue to offer a world-class education to the entire Falcon Family. Congratulations to the students, parents, and faculty on this tremendous accomplishment.
