On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) publicly released accreditation and accountability information for public school divisions under its new School Performance and Support Framework (SPSF). All York County School Division schools remain fully accredited for the 2025-26 school year. This achievement underscores the dedication of our educators, staff, students, and families.
The SPSF also evaluates schools across four key pillars: Mastery, Growth, Readiness, and Graduation, then categorizes schools using a points scale. The categories and scales include:
All 19 schools earned ratings of Distinguished or On Track, making YCSD the only school division in Region II to have all schools meeting or exceeding expectations. The state’s Regional Snapshot further identifies the top five schools in various areas at each level. Multiple YCSD schools are highlighted in this report.
“These ratings reflect a supportive culture where students feel valued, engaged, and challenged,” Dr. Jim Carroll, interim superintendent, said. “Our Strategic Plan guides this work each day as we prepare Future Ready Graduates and support Highly Effective Talent in every school.”
State accountability information for each YCSD school is available on the Virginia School Quality Profiles website. The December School Board Work Session will also feature a detailed presentation on the new framework and individual school ratings.
