Virginia Principal of Distinction Award

Posted On: Tuesday, June 17, 2025

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Kristin Bolam on being named a 2025 Virginia Principal of Distinction. This statewide program recognizes exceptional school leadership and student-focused achievement.

To qualify for this honor, principals must have served at least five years as a building-level administrator in which they demonstrate strong leadership in academic achievement, instructional excellence, and removing barriers to learning. As principal, Dr. Bolam is known for creating learning environments in which all students are valued, supported and challenged on their personal path to success.

As part of the Principals of Distinction program, Dr. Bolam will participate in a statewide leadership symposium and complete a capstone project. While most program participants will focus their capstone projects at the school level, Dr. Bolam's will have a division-wide focus as she transitions to her new role of associate director for K-12 Academic Services in July.

YCSD is proud to support Dr. Bolam's commitment to continued professional growth and dedication to supporting high-quality learning experiences leading to student success.
