K12 Innovation Grant

The Virginia Department of Education recently named the York County School Division (YCSD) as a recipient of a K-12 Innovation Grant. Through this grant, YCSD will partner with Virginia Peninsula Community College (formerly Thomas Nelson Community College) to offer a dual enrollment program which will allow high school students to earn the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) remote pilots license and complete a career studies certificate prior to graduating high school.

Beginning with the 2023-24 school year, students within the dual enrollment program will have opportunities to complete the newly developed Unmanned Aircraft Systems course through YCSD as well as the UMS 107: Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Remote Pilot Ground School through Virginia Peninsula Community College. Additionally, students enrolled within the dual enrollment program will have the unique opportunity to engage in a variety of work-based learning experiences to prepare them to meet the demands of this growing labor market.

Meritorious Budget Award

The York County School Division (YCSD) received recognition for excellence in budget presentation with the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for fiscal year 2023 from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). This award reflects YCSD’s commitment to sound fiscal management and budgetary policies. It is also the highest recognition awarded by the ASBO for meeting stringent program requirements.

Program participation enhances school business officials’ skills in developing, analyzing, and presenting a school system budget. Participants submit their budget documents to a panel of school financial professionals who review the materials for compliance with the MBA Criteria Checklist and other requirements, and provide expert feedback districts can use to improve budget documents.

Community Announcements

The York County School Division offers local businesses and organizations the opportunity to share information with students and parents regarding educational/enrichment activities, events and opportunities, which are either available to YCSD students or support division programs. These flyers are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the York County School Division or the schools, but are made available as a community service for our families.

Community announcements can also be found on the division website and each school's website.
