Bus Stop Incident

Posted On: Thursday, January 23, 2020

As you know, safety is a top priority for the division. As such, we are letting you know that this morning, division staff received a report of potentially suspicious individuals in a dark-colored vehicle seen near a bus stop on Eagle Loop in the Langley housing community serving Bethel Manor Elementary, Tabb Middle, and Tabb High schools. This information has been reported to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office for further investigation. While information is very limited at this time, we wanted to take this opportunity to share some safety tips regarding school bus stops.

Young children should be supervised whenever possible at the bus stop and while walking to and from the stop. Students should walk in groups or use a buddy system whenever possible. And remember, if you see a suspicious vehicle in your neighborhood – particularly during the pick-up and drop-off bus stop times, please report this information to the Sheriff’s Office and the school.

We thank you for your cooperating in maintaining safety and security for our students.
