Posted On: Thursday, March 28, 2019

The York County School Division is proud to announce that Amanda Poe, a Grafton Middle School foreign language teacher, has been selected as the division's Teacher of the Year. Amanda was one of three finalists for the honor and was surprised with the news by the Teacher of the Year prize patrol.

The Teacher of the Year prize patrol, sponsored by TowneBank and the York Foundation for Public Education, Inc., included Superintendent Dr. Victor Shandor, School Board member Jimmy Richardson, members of the division's Executive Leadership Team, education foundation representatives and Vice President of TowneBank Sandra Allen.

As the division Teacher of the Year, Amanda is now a candidate for the regional Teacher of the Year. One of the eight regional honorees will be named the state Teacher of the Year in the fall.
