York River Academy Courtyard Bench

Posted On: Thursday, October 25, 2018
This week, members of the York County Beautification committee, along with Sheila Noll from the York County Board of Supervisors and Barb Dunbar, Master Gardener from Virginia Cooperative Extension, presented York River Academy with a bench for the school's courtyard. The bench was made from recycled plastic bags through a Trex recycling program. York River Academy was the first school in the division to receive a bench through this program. YRA collected many plastic bags in the 2017-18 school year to earn the honor. York River Academy continues to collect plastic bags to aid in the creating of future benches for other schools in York County. Principal Walt Cross shared, "It is our honor to be environmental stewards and show our students the impacts of properly recycling everyday grocery bags."
