BMES Teacher Makes Personal Connection

student and teacher standing next to each otherAs just about everyone at Bethel Manor Elementary School knows, Katherine Burgoyne is not just a fifth grade teacher – she’s also a Pittsburgh Steelers superfan.

So what happens when one of her students - Kingston Samuels - happens to be a Baltimore Ravens fan? You find a way to engage students - Ms. Burgoyne promised Kingston she would dye her hair purple if the Ravens beat the Steelers.

True to her word, Ms. Burgoyne rocked purple hair and was a good sport. She is an amazing example at making student connections and fostering those relationships.
