YCSD 2-Hour Delay/Exams Canceled

Posted On: Thursday, January 18, 2018

All York County schools and offices will open on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Friday, January 19, 2018 for all students and staff. This will be a B day for high schools and middle schools. As some roads throughout the county remain snow-covered this evening, division staff will review road conditions again in the morning. If a change in operational status is necessary, parents and staff will be notified by email, phone call and social media. For information on how two-hour delays impact specific programs, such as preschool, School of the Arts and New Horizons, please visit our website.

Regarding the school calendar, the division has previously provided make-up day information. However, in light of the missed days this week, additional adjustments to the 2017-18 school calendar have been made.

Monday, January 29, and Tuesday, January 30, will now be full instructional school days for all students. Recognizing the intermittent instruction that students have received since returning from winter break, midterm exams for high school credit courses are canceled. Adjusting these two days into full instruction days for all schools will provide teachers and students additional time to cover second quarter curriculum. Wednesday, January 31, will remain an early release day for all schools for teachers to finalize end-of-quarter grades. Schools will provide additional information to individual students regarding other assessments impacted by the school closures.

The table below summarizes all changes to the 2017-18 school calendar as of today, January 18, 2018.
