York High School Principal Named PTA Power Partner

Congratulations to York High School (YHS) Principal Shannon Butler who has just been named a Virginia PTA Power Partner principal! The PTA program recognizes principals and superintendents from across the state who have shown that a strong family-school partnership is key to student success. Dr. Butler will be honored at the Virginia PTA annual conference in Richmond on July 14.

"This is such a well-deserved honor for Dr. Butler. To receive this award in her second year of leading a high school is certainly commendable," shared YCSD Superintendent Victor Shandor, Ed.D. "She has dedicated a significant amount of time building relationships with not only students and staff but with parents, community members, and business partners. Additionally, she has created various opportunities for her high school students and staff to increase their engagement with their feeder elementary and middle schools. As a result, she has played an integral role in bringing back a strong sense of community in the York Zone."
